New DVD's cause a rucus at Herndon

This morning the new DVD's came out at Herndon, as they do almost every Tuesday.

Typically, we have a dedicated group of patrons who wait patiently for us to open so they can get the first crack at the new materials.

This morning, right before we opened, some new people showed up and shoved and pushed their way to our DVD's in a manner most rude.

I have brought this to the attention of my manager and we are working on the problem. It is really cool that patrons are excited to get to our materials; however we need to nip any untoward or harmful behavior right in the bud. I have been told that this is happening at other branches as well. I wonder what they do to deal with this>

I'm not usually in the DVD section when we first open, so I don't know how they act when they get there, but when they're stampeding through the lobby they don't seem to be too bad. There was an idea on the Orange Seed a while ago (I think it was Jen's) about limiting the number of new DVDs anyone can check out, which I think would be great. But have you heard, they're probably going to raise the limit to 15 DVDs per patron soon? I wonder how that will work out.
